A visas are issued to representatives of a foreign government traveling to the United States to engage in official activities for that government. A visa holders include Ambassadors, public ministers, diplomats or consular officers assigned to represent their country in the U.S., their immediate families and household workers.
Dependents, such as family members, staff and household workers, of A-1, A-2, G-1, G-3, and G-4 visa holders may be eligible to work in the United States on derivative A, or G visas.
